First senior world champion for Africa - Tanya d’ Argent

The following countries from Africa participated in the IX Senior Kurash World Championships October 2011

Morrocco, Niger, Mauritius, South Africa, Mozambique, DRC, Botswana and Congo

African Medalists:

 Tanya d’ Argent -South Africa - Gold medal -48kg

Andrea Swanepoel - South Africa - Bronze medal - 78kg
